Wedding Story Contest

Every wedding is a blending of two families, and both sides may have customs they treasure, based on ethnic heritage, personal preferences, or longstanding ritual.

For instance, many people of Scottish descent wouldn't think of marrying without a bagpiper leading the procession. Jewish couples marry under a canopy and seal their vows by breaking a wine glass. Some couples, rather than following old traditions, invent new ones - as evidenced by the rise in popularity of destination weddings.

This year's Club Contest is the Wedding Traditions Essay Contest - a celebration of the rituals that surround the wedding. Tell us about your personal wedding memories or write about a unique ceremony or reception you've attended. Share the details from foods to costumes to dances that made the day more memorable.

Or if you prefer, tell us a story about a wedding that took a break from the traditional. If you'd like, you can include a photo to enhance your story. The more interesting the wedding and the more creatively you express your thoughts, the more likely you are to be a winner!
